    STEPHEN MUNDAY

    Formerly Headteacher at William Edwards for seven years, Steve was appointed full time CEO of SWECET in July 2018. Having led William Edwards through successful academisation as an early Outstanding convertor school in 2011, he has been instrumental in the formation and growth of SWECET including gaining DfE approval to build our new secondary school, Orsett Heath Academy. Steve is also an accredited facilitator of NPQH and NPQSL training.

    PETER MELVILLE

    Peter was appointed as the COO in 2015, CFO since 2010 and leads the Trust's central finance team.comprising four colleagues. He was the ISBL Associate Practitioner (London) and Specialist Leader of Education (Academy Conversion). Previously, Peter led two School Sports Partnerships.

    HR Director

    STEVEN BALL

    Steve joined SWECET in 2018 and has quickly established the Trust central HR team comprising four colleagues supporting our schools with all their HR and payroll needs. He has more than fifteen years educational HR experience across a range of settings. Before joining SWECET he worked with the largest academy trust in the country. Steve is a Chartered Fellow of CIPD and has a master's degree in HR management.

    Chair of the Trust Board

    JOHN KING OBE

    John is the former Headteacher of Gable Hall School and William Edwards School, with 4 outstanding Ofsted judgements whilst as Headteacher. He is the former Head of School Improvement for the London Borough of Newham. John was also Chair of the Trust from 2015 to 2021.

    RAY MOORE

    Ray is the former Director of Global Trade at HSBC. Ray runs his own training company.

    Experienced school leader and Executive Headteacher of two primary schools in Havering.

    BRIAN KASANDA

    Brian is employed at Ernst & Young LLP where he has worked since joining their apprenticeship scheme at the age of 18. He brings experience and knowledge within the financial sector, primarily in audit, and as a former William Edwards pupil and Deputy Head Boy, local knowledge and an understanding of the school.

    Linda was previously the local Strategic Lead for 14-19 and has broad experience of Post 16 provision including growing a successful sixth form and area wide inspection.

    Katy is CIMA qualified and has supported schools finance teams for nine years through financial consultancy, training and internal audit.

  • Grace Defreitas

    Grace Defreitas

    Grace has inspired learning through the arts and education sectors since 2011, at national and regional institutions of note.

    With training in Pastoral Care, Health and Development Grace has over five years of experience delivering in private and alternative arts education settings.

    Since 2017, Grace has worked with the Royal Ballet & Opera (Learning & Participation) team leading the Thurrock Trailblazer programme; collaborating with over 40 local, regional and national cultural partner organisations and schools.

    Proud partner of GOS Group, passionate about building strong client relationships. Ben has two children attending Orsett Heath Academy and previously played rugby for Thurrock and Essex

    Ralph is the current Vice President of Thurrock Rugby Club. Ralph was also the former Deputy Headteacher
    William Edwards School for 40 years.

    Layla has extensive experience in tax and audit .

    Connor has previously worked as a tutor, Operations Manager at DWP and an HMI at the HSE.

    Paul is the Chief Executive Officer of the Treetops Learning Community. Paul has overseen 4 outstanding Ofsted judgements during this time. Paul is also a National Leader of Education.
